Davide Sossella
RORHOF presents the archive of Davide Sossella, a painter living with his dog Laser in his cabin in Batoe in the Giudicarie Valley in the Trentino province in Italy.
Davide spends his days painting, gathering wild herbs and berries, listening to 432hz and 528hz music, and mostly on his smart-phone, where he shares his art. There are days when he feels like a horse, others when he militates for the cause of the planet like Greta, and others still when he tries to make sense of the world by reflects on mind control.Â
Davide Sossella was born in Este (PD) in 1963. Following the death of his father at the age of nine, he moved to Ponte Caffaro (BS), his mother's hometown. Ever since he was a child, he has been painting and building objects with recycled materials. At the beginning of the 1980s he was forced to close down his car wash business because of the financial difficulties he encountered. Soon afterwards he became involved in international drug dealing. He went into hiding in Morocco in the early 2000s, where, hosted by a local family, he cultivated cannabis on the Atlas Mountains. After six years, he turned himself in at the Italian embassy, serving an eighteen-month sentence in Casablanca and later a total of 19 years of sentence in Italian prisons.Â
